<blockquote> "i am cooperating" </blockquote>
Sabre is the creator of the universe and keeper of all of the records. Little else is known about them, though glimpses of their personality and goals have been shown.

The Universe
Sabre created the universe, though they prefer not to interfere in what goes on inside, even if this results in widespread damage to several iterations. They don't seem to feel strongly about the possibility it will end, stating that "creation is its own reward" and "the universe's end is as natural a process as its beginning". Nevertheless, there have been notable instances of sabre interfering to some degree, as they seem to ultimately gravitate to whatever feels the most "interesting".

EMBER
:Main article: EMBER
After EMBER successfully convinced his entire species to kill themselves immediately, saving 768220 from total decay, sabre took pity on him and took him out of his iteration to let him explore the universe. Eventually he was given a new body to facilitate easier exploration, and became fascinated with the chaotic beauty he saw all around him. Hoping to preserve it, EMBER became a de facto caretaker for the universe, and grew frustrated with sabre's refusal to take action when damage was being done. Sabre felt that EMBER was misguided in some ways, such as the means used to save his iteration, but made no attempts to stop his aspirations to preserve other iterations.

Record Keeping
Sabre keeps many records of various events throughout the universe, translating them into other languages and, curiously, providing them to the Nyxite Society of Interrealistic Preservation upon being requested. The details of this arrangement are unknown, though at least two theories can be made:
* Similarly to EMBER, sabre pities the Nyxite's situation, and provides them stories from other iterations to perhaps give them a chance of survival.
** This is backed in fruits of chaos by EMBER implying that sabre is "directly aiding" the Nyxite despite their destructive actions, though it is unclear whether EMBER is simply referring to sabre's inaction.
* While extremely unlikely, another explanation could be that the NSIrP have managed to reconstruct sabre, and this reconstructed version is where they get the records from.

Sabre seems to have taken a personal interest in CASEI's story, as the records lucky, obituary, i made a friend, and the historian are noted as being "unrequested", and lack the NSIrP marker.

Trivia
* Sabre's name is the only name in Doughbyte not to be marked as a mnemonic.
** In real-life, a sabre is a type of curved sword, with its name being a loan word from French. This further demonstrates the odd amount of French things hidden throughout Doughbyte.

Little Box is the second record in chapter III.
Synopsis
The RHOMB has been brought to the edge of the universe and very close to the fractal wall. NYXEM and IOGOS The purpose of their visit is to run tests on the wall, and see how it reacts to various stimuli. After sending out magnetic fields and a probe, it becomes apparent that matter and energy do not affect the fractals. The two researchers reach the conclusion that the fractals do not spread over matter, but rather the fabric of reality itself. Matter that is shot into the wall gets "iteratively translated" much like how a fractal tessellates. After running another test with two receivers, it's determined that the fractallization of matter is with offsets and rotations, and without scaling. This means that the shape of the iterations is a spiral, or at least the part that the Nyxite could measure before their receiver gave out. NYXEM makes a note that the data suggests that the Little Box Theory may be true. After the testing is finished, the wall begins to advance towards the ship. IOGOS takes note of this, and the record ends.
Trivia
* At this point in the story, it's not apparent what exactly the Little Box Theory is. However, it can be inferred that it's about the fractal wall and the Nyxite species' place in the universe.
* In the old version of this record, the distance between the receivers was shrunk drastically with each iteration. This meant each iteration was a magnitude larger than the last. However, Changes in some records, including this one, made this no longer true.

AURAK is a Chevrin that arguably started off the chain of events that drives 265404's story. He is the king of The Church, and spearheads their quest to fill the Glaciercreek Reservoir with Llokin blood.
<!-- I think the glaciercreek needs its own section at the church article -prrrki -->

King of the Chevrin
AURAK's main job was to lead the church to prosperity, under the will of NYXEM. He would regularly venture out into the glacial wastes that lie beyond The Terminator, and look for artifacts from NYXEM. These expeditions seem both dangerous and foolish, but the philosophy of the Church is that no reward can be gained without suffering and detraction in turn. CASEI was often a companion during these trips into the darkness, but after many fruitless attempts and near-death incidents, she stopped. Presumably, this is around the time where she left the Church as well. AURAK would continue to make these journeys alone.

When he isn't out on an expedition, he sees to the Church's various proceedings and meets with his advisors to make sure everything is running at maximum efficiency. This role becomes even more important after his goal to fill the Glaciercreek Reservoir was commenced.

As the king of the Church, AURAK also sees to diplomacy, as sparse as it is. Apparently he would meet with the Glacierdwellers, but it's unclear to what extent his relations with them was, or how often he met them.

Death
On an otherwise normal preparation for an excursion into the glacial wastes, AURAK was murdered by MEAZS in one blow. His death sent massive reverberations through the Church's ranks; after the events that followed, MEFET became king in his place. It's unclear if MEFET has any kind of blood relation to the deceased king. It's also unclear if CASEI would have become queen if she hadn't left, or even what process decides who rules.

<blockquote>"And while his sister remained there to suffer in the endless inferno and horrible sands of the Caldera until all of time came to a close, our mortal heads can merely imagine what ALUSE had been granted at the other End." - Chevrin Scripture</blockquote>

The Church is a Chevrin religious and political organization based around the worship of the Wanderer. Members of the Church are called the Children. The Church plays a significant factor in a large part of Chevrin society. Neither the Glacierdwellers or CASEI are members of the Church, the latter being an escapee.

Organization
The Church is a religious group but also the political organization of the surface-dwelling Chevrin. As such there are several positions of importance.
* King, the leader of the Church. First held by AURAK then later MEFET.

* Royalty, often in close relation to the king. They act as advisors to the king in his various exploits and goals.

* Crusaders, warriors of the Church. They follow the lead of the Wayfinders. There are no notable Crusaders.
Beliefs
The Church is a very legalistic religion where faith is shown through action, every reward must be earned. This can be found in AURAK's search for holy artifacts in the glacier, often at the risk of his own life.

Llokin Creation Story
The Church believes that Chevrin, as well as Llokin are the descendants of the Wanderer. Scripture explains the differences between the two species with the story of SETEI and ALUSE. The two children of the Wanderer were given the task of making an offering to the Wanderer in which their souls would be judged. ALUSE dedicated himself entirely to the cause while SETEI pursued more carefree matters. ALUSE alone finished the Spire, a monument from which to worship the Wanderer, and set in motion the Wanderer's judgement. ALUSE was exalted while SETEI was transformed into the first Llokin, giving rise to the belief that they were demons.

Rituals
Summit of Exaltation
The Summit of Exaltation is a coming-of-age ritual for the Children that every adult must go through. It's described as the only place where one can seek an audience with the Wanderer, high in the clouds and near the glaciers. Young Chevrin are led up to the Summit by their parents to be judged, indicated by a streak of purple and the voice of the Wanderer. If a Chevrin is not exalted, they are pushed off the Summit. The Summit is not high enough to kill and the disgraced Chevrin must learn to survive on their own and make their way back to the Summit to repay their debt.
The invasion of the Caldera was a ritual dedicated to the Wanderer. The Church planned to fill the Glaciercreek Reservoir with Llokin blood as a show of faith. However, after the death of AURAK, the goals shift to the genocide of the Llokin.

Speculation

This article serves as a way to present an alternative theory regarding the canon status of the three "event arts" on the Doughbyte website: reflection, something through nothing, and beauty in everything. This page will run through each image individually, as well as provide an introduction. The hope is that by making this, a new light can be shone on a long-accepted belief that these images are not canon to the story at all (also, it's just nice to have all this logged in an easy-to-access space). There will be some spoilers for the most recent records as of the time of writing this however, so if you haven't read through all the story yet it would be best if you did that first and then came back here if you so chose.

Introduction
For a long time, it has been commonly accepted that these event arts are not canon to the story of Doughbyte. After all, there was never any reason to believe otherwise; the scenarios presented within them seemed impossible. A Llokin in some abstract dream world? A Nyxite, Vollux, Llokin, Chevrin, and Eykwyrm all in the same room, looking as though they're posing for a photograph? There was just no way this could happen -- until Chapter XVII of the story came out, and with it, the record from a distance. This single record provided new insight on many things in the story, but the most important for the purposes of this article is the following: sabre -- the being who translates all of the records into English -- created the universe and every iteration within it, effectively making them god; free to do as they please with their creation. This makes the scenarios in those images far less outlandish and one can easily imagine them as being totally possible.

Besides that, there are a couple other noteworthy tidbits of info:
* Within the first two event arts, there is the following symbol:
** Though never directly mentioned as such, this symbol has a strong correlation with sabre, being present all throughout the website, including a version on the homepage which has a set of pupils that follow your mouse cursor around.
* Each image page on the site has a marker in the corner that is used in various forms to mark whether an image is to be considered canon. Images with a marker are canon, images without one are not.
** The event arts each have one such symbol, and it happens to be the same one shown above, in addition to the background being white instead of the black seen with every other image. The common assumption is that this is used solely to indicate that these images denote a special event and nothing else, but if you note the specific imagery that is present in each of them, it would seem as though this may not actually be the case.

With that introduction out of the way, we can now go through the images themselves.

reflection
Released in mid-2021 as part of a thank you to the community, reflection is the least likely image here to be fully canon due to its age and some other factors, notably there are multiple elements that are more related to Breadcrumbs' previous ARG than they are to Doughbyte (though, at the time this image was released it is not entirely out of the question that these two universes were connected in some way). Nevertheless, the rest of the image has some details that can be observed here. The most obvious thing to point out is the presence of the symbol mentioned before, with its "eyes" having shapes resembling a face of joy, no doubt due to the presence of a Llokin right underneath it. Besides that, the background resembles other depictions of the "hyperverse" in its colouration. The surroundings resemble some kind of digital landscape, possibly indicating that this red/green Llokin has been placed into a simulation by sabre, or perhaps this could even be the creation of 265404.

something through nothing
Released in early 2022 to celebrate Doughbyte's 1-year anniversary, something through nothing depicts every major Doughbyte species (minus an Osmite) charging forwards in a heroic manner, with sabre's symbol in the background in the middle of a swirly red pattern. With the knowledge obtained in from a distance, this could take place within sabre's own domain and the characters within could be recreations of them that sabre summoned themselves for some entertainment, likely to commemorate the success of their ongoing experiment (the universe). Nothing in this image appears to contradict currently established lore, and it seems a likely candidate to indeed be canon.

beauty in everything
Released in early 2023 to celebrate Doughbyte's 2-year anniversary, beauty in everything is the final event image as of writing this, and it is probably the most important one to analyze. In the foreground, you see an Osmite, standing in front of a background which strongly resembles the swirly red pattern seen in the previous image. Floating in its hands is a familiar yet different symbol, looking very similar to the one that's been so highly prevalent everywhere else, yet distinctly different with its own traits. This Osmite is believed to be EMBER, the sole survivor of his kind, taken out of 768220 by sabre out of pity and permitted to explore the universe, as per from a distance. EMBER is said to have also been provided with a "new body, so he could explore the worlds all on his own", and from this piece of dialogue comes a very interesting possibility: the symbol that's been mentioned so many times in this article is sabre, or at least a form they choose to take, and the similar-looking symbol held by EMBER is the body sabre provided to him, which EMBER is presumably seeing for the first time in the image. This image seems very likely to be canon, and has super interesting implications if so.

Conclusion
And so ends this long analysis of these images. It took much longer to write than expected, and perhaps all this effort was unnecessary for something which isn't that important, but hopefully it's at least somewhat interesting to read, and maybe it'll lead some people to ponder these words a little bit. Or maybe it won't, who knows. In either case, it's fun to think about, and maybe there'll be more articles like this in the future (doubtful). Thanks for reading! The RHOMB is a large spacecraft inhabited by numerous Nyxite, dedicated to studying the fractal wall and its potential impact to their way of life. They work closely with the NSIrP, giving them crucial data for their own studies.

Nyxite Society of Interrealistic Preservation
The Nyxite Society of Interrealistic Preservation, abbreviated as NSIrP, is a group dedicated to studying the "Hyperverse". They conduct important research and experiments, including temporarily recreating life from other universes using "Practical Non-Paradoxical Backwards Read-Only Time Travel".
Spoiler warning
768221 is under constant threat from the so-called "fractal wall" — a piece of the Hyperverse that threatens to consume the whole iteration. The RHOMB sends several probes into the fractal wall to study its effects, and find that it significantly corrupts all that gets too close. These probes have unforeseen consequences, leading the NSIrP to discover that the wall is now growing exponentially rather than linearly, giving them 719 days to stop it before the entire iteration is destroyed. At some point, NYXEM's section of the RHOMB gets too close to the wall, causing them to be ejected from the rest of the ship for the safety of the crew, leading IOGOS as the lead scientist in the RHOMB. The Nyxite conduct several experiments to try and solve their crisis, however at some point the RHOMB is attacked by an enforcer sent by EMBER (possibly being EMBER himself), who imprisons IOGOS, presumably in addition to many other crew of the RHOMB.

Concern is the first record in chapter III.
Synopsis
CASEI and AURAK are out in the deeper parts of the cold and desolate Tundra, completely on their own. CASEI notices that her brother is missing, and finds him, naked, standing in the harsh temperatures without any protection. She urges AURAK to come back to camp and stop suffering in the cold senselessly, but AURAK remains adamant in his self-inflicted hypothermia. He insists that the Wanderer will reward him for his suffering, but CASEI eventually convinces him to go back. Other than some small trivia, this is not that complicated of a record, and helps give flavor to the coming chapter.
Trivia
* This record has the first mention of Glacierdwellers, a Chevrin offshoot group that have isolated themselves in the depths of the ice.
* The record implies The Glacierdwellers don't seem to mind using the skin of fellow Chevrin as clothing at all.
* AURAK spots something in the snow, but it's unclear if it's real or if he is simply at his wit's end.
* This record shows that Chevrin need ample clothing to survive the sub-zero temperatures of the deeper parts of the tundra. Chevrin do not require as much to wear in the Terminator's grasslands.
Lucky is the third record in chapter II.
Synopsis
CASEI laments over the fact that her only friend, ZEHAL, is slowly succumbing to an infection that he has. She also talks about the gods of the focus.
ZEHAL
ZEHAL is a Llokin that has somehow found a way to live with a Chevrin, despite the impossibility of such a situation. Because of his worsening condition due to his infection, CASEI tries moving him to various places, such as outside in the cold. These attempts eventually seem to turn out to be futile. ZEHAL tells CASEI about the pantheon of the gods that the Llokin worship, and a little bit about their creation mythology, and she is convinced that the Llokin gods are worth worshipping. It is important to note that Chevrin mythology claims that Llokin are demons, and that their existence is suffering. However, ZEHAL's stories show CASEI that life as a Llokin is actually not so bad, and is even enjoyable. She decides that the Llokin are not demons, after all.
Trivia
* This record, more specifically its premise, is actually where the idea of doughbyte first came from.
* The title of the record is a reference to what CASEI originally called ZEHAL, before she learned his name.
* The fact that ZEHAL sat on a bed of hot coals implies that Llokin have some form of fire resistance.
Two, figure out how long the Nyxite have until their universe is destroyed. And three, figure out if there's any way to contain or reverse fractal corruption. The Nyxite seem determined to prove whether or not the Little Box Theory is true, but what exactly that theory is has yet to be said.
}}
Council is the first record in chapter II, and is a continuation of Reservoir.
Synopsis
After at least seven rotations' time, a small meeting is held in The Church to discuss progress and plans for the future. The biggest difficulties the Chevrin brush up against are twofold, both having to do with the Llokin. The first challenge is capture, and the second is containment. Many fruitless ideas are pitched, which eventually ends up leading to arguing.
Capture
WARES, after sending a team into the Caldera, managed to discover some things about that environment. For one, the Llokin seem to be more technologically advanced than the Chevrin anticipated. This implies that it has potentially been hundreds of years since a Chevrin had made contact with a Llokin village. The village seems to have had rudimentary defenses, because the team was promptly attacked upon reaching said village. The attack, plus the unbearable heat of the Focus, meant that the team had to turn around and retreat. Since the Chevrin are creatures of sub-zero temperature, this might mean that even room temperature would be uncomfortable to them. During the meeting, WARES suggests tunneling under the ground to use as a shield against the heat. NERAN suggests cooling down the Caldera itself, and later has the idea of using smoke from wildfire to lessen the light coming from the Focus. The main problem with cooling down the Caldera is eventually revealed: the temperature would probably kill all the Llokin. Thus, the Chevrin are forced to play by the Llokin's rules, at least for now.
Containment
As for keeping the now-captured Llokin alive, it turns out that such a deceptively simple task has many facets that are worth considering. For one, The Church is very obviously cold. As mentioned in Reservoir, a Llokin would not survive long. Second, a source of food has seemingly not yet been located. The natural foods that the Llokin eat are simply not possible to grow beyond the Terminator. Keeping custody of hundreds of thousands of Llokin seems impossible, according to IGLAS.
Trivia
* This record contains the first reference to starfruit.
* NERAN mentions a "200 year plan" which establishes that the Chevrin have given themselves two hundred years to make their offering to NYXEM.
* NERAN's plan to put smoke into the air above the Caldera implies that the Focus lies within the atmosphere of the Caldera.
* TARAN reveals the existence of a forest underneath the Focus.
* WARES says "I am cooperating", which is a reference to what Sabre said in an earlier record.
Discovery is the first Llokin record in doughbyte.
Synopsis
After discovering a strange artifact in the Rockthorn mine, SILLH begins crude experiments on what seems to be a magical tablet that runs on organic matter. The record doesn't have any dialogue, rather it is simply a copy of her notes.
The Tablet
The artifact that SILLH finds seems to have a multitude of interesting properties, but it has one single power that immediately stands out: it consumes matter. She notes that the tablet is eager to consume anything, but it "prefers" things from certain places. For example, sand from Clearstone seems to be absorbed more readily. Living things are not exempt to the tablet's hunger, and the mere act of holding the artifact lets it eat away at SILLH's hands.
Uncovering the Artifact
The tablet seems to have simply popped into existence in an entrance of the Rockthorn mine. It should be noted that SILLH regularly goes to the mines, so she definitely would have noticed it earlier. It is unclear if the tablet is able to bend reality or simply teleport. The tablet also seems to have had a large tube of glass above it when it was discovered. It seems that the tube was meant to hold something, but it is now empty.
The Tablet's Appearance
The tablet seems to be made of multiple, hinged "pages" that connect to each other on alternating edges. The art, Stanza, shows the tablet's hinged edges. Each page is covered in symbols, and it's unclear what these symbols mean. A lot of those symbols are scratched out and replaced. It is unclear if these numerous edits are edits, or if the scratched out symbols are trying to hide properties that the tablet has. The bottom-most page is thicker than the rest and has some sort of object inside of it. SILLH makes a hypothesis that there might be something inside of the tablet, and even goes to suggest that the object may be the source of the tablet's powers.
Who built it?
It's clear that this artifact and its origins are completely alien to SILLH, as she has no clue what its purpose, its symbols, or its origin are. However, she makes some interesting guesses as to where it may have come from.
An ancient Calderan people
Whether or not these people are Llokin or otherwise, it's clear that they understood much more about the world than the current Llokin society. The magical (or technological) capabilities of such a civilization are unknown. It is also possible that one person made this tablet, and its existence was unknown to the Caldera at large. Whether or not this creator was in-tune with the Gods is unknown, but it's clear that they had some kind of edge over a normal person. The room that the tablet appeared in seemed to be some sort of shrine, with rotted banners made of some sort of thread. At least a few decade's time must have passed since the shrine's creation.
The Chevrin
SILLH makes a hypothesis that the Chevrin somehow made the device, but according to her, the handiwork is much too small for their hands. The language is also implied to be different from what the Chevrin normally use. There are numerous problems with this hypothesis, but the biggest one is location: Why did the tablet end up deep in the Caldera, instead of outside The Terminator where the Chevrin normally reside? The heat of the Caldera is also unbearable to Chevrin, so it does not make sense that one would venture out into the Caldera just to leave a precious artifact.
The Gods
Another guess that SILLH makes is that the tablet came directly from the Gods. Her first guess is that KRAZA made it, since the tablet is made of stone, and it eats different minerals at different rates. SILLH wonders why the Gods made the tablet, and for what purpose. She implies that the Gods had been doing something for free this entire time, and only now might they possibly be demanding some kind of payment, presumably from the Llokin as a whole. She also makes the mistake of assuming that the tablet's appearance is deliberate, and that its appearance was specifically for her. Her idea that she was "chosen" will carry on further into the story.
Trivia
* The header for this record has a note from Sabre that they are "cooperating". This is a reference to the beginning prompt to a series of puzzles that lead to the discovery of this record, asking for the Director's cooperation. This isn't really touched on further, so it is most likely not that important.
* The tablet doesn't seem to eat liquid faster than solids.
* It is implied that this record's notes were made over an extended period of time, rather than in one sitting.
* The object that resides in the tablet's last page is protected with a four-piece lock. SILLH was unable to figure out its combination.
* DZUNE says something to sillh but i forgot what it was sorry
SILLH makes a hypothesis that there might be something inside of the tablet, and even goes to suggest that the object may be the source of the tablet's powers.
|Data5 = The RHOMB
}}
Commencement is the first Nyxite record in doughbyte.
Synopsis
NYXEM, presumably a senior researcher, welcomes IOGOS aboard the RHOMB. IOGOS's role aboard the RHOMB seems to be research of "Fractal Disease". NYXEM gives a summary of what work aboard the RHOMB is like, and gives some words of warning about fractals.
The RHOMB
The RHOMB's purpose is to travel near the edge of the universe, which NYXEM notes is finite in size. The record implies that the outer edges of the universe somehow have a disease of some sort, and that they must be studied in order to prevent their spread. The crew of the RHOMB may be equal in importance, meaning that each person can either do research, repairs, paperwork, or anything in between. The RHOMB works in tandem with the NSIrP, and communication takes a long time, given that the ship exists near the edge of the universe.
Fractals
Fractals border the edge of the Nyxite's universe. Notably, they appear to be both extremely dangerous and spreading through the rest of the universe, from all directions. The last part of the record gives a harrowing message: The fractals are not alive. Why would NYXEM warn IOGOS about the fractals potentially attacking the RHOMB, and also tell them that fractals cannot speak? Why would NYXEM make such assertions if Nyxite barely know anything about them? Can fractals think? These are all great questions.
|Data5 = The Church
}}
Reservoir is the first record in doughbyte, and serves as the starting point for the story.
Synopsis
AURAK gathers his most trusted members of The Church and proposes a plan to them: fill the Glaciercreek Reservoir with Llokin blood. AURAK's Llokin cabinet then discuss the feasibility of this plan and begin laying down the groundwork for what each of them will do.
Blood Farm
The gist of the plan involves capturing the entire Llokin species and forcing them to grow and be slaughtered for their blood. The blood would then be poured into the Glaciercreek Reservoir until it was full. According to MEFET, it would take approximately 160 billion Llokin to fill the reservoir completely, so the team ultimately agrees to scale down the project to something that would be feasible in a few hundred years. Keeping such an entire species in imprisonment would be exceptionally difficult alone, but the different physiology between Chevrin and Llokin adds another layer of challenges that would need to be overcome, mainly food and temperature.
Invasion
Acquiring such a large quantity of Llokin is a daunting challenge, since they reside very close to the Focus, and inside the Terminator's ring. The ambient temperature of the Caldera proper is about 40 degrees Celsius. The Chevrin are a species that resides in sub-zero temperatures, so to survive the hot temperatures of the caldera, they would need some serious innovation.
Gravity Warheads
NERAN mentions a plan that he has had for (apparently) a long time: gravity warheads. What is notable about NERAN's plan is not the weaponry, but the ensuing argument that he and WARES have about their feasibility. The way both of them talk about guiding the missiles and avoiding the Focus implies that The Surface and the Focus are positioned in a way that avoiding them is an important factor. On Earth, this wouldn't be a problem, which means that The Surface's shape differs from a planet's in some capacity.
Trivia
* Lots of information about the Llokin's physiology is mentioned in this record.
* Llokin have about 1.2 liters of blood, according to MEFET.
* According to TARAN's geographic estimates, there cannot be more than 350 thousand Llokin in the Caldera. The actual population is most likely much lower, given that there is very little room for them to exist.
* TARAN implies that the age of adulthood for Llokin is about 10 years old.
* NYXEM is established as the Chevrin deity in this record.
* According to AURAK, the Focus and The Surface have a limited timespan before they "collapse". It's unclear if this means complete destruction of the entire World.
* Llokin seem to thrive around 39 degrees Celsius. According to TARAN, a Llokin goes into torpor at around 30 degrees Celsius.
* TARAN mentions that Llokin need about a meal a week to survive. It is unclear what effect more than one meal a week has.

NYXEM (/nɪkzʌm/, nik-ZUM) is a Nyxite, formerly a crewmember on the RHOMB. The only known living being to have passed into the fractal wall, they are one of the most pivotal characters to Doughbyte's story.
<!-- unsure if fractal wall should be own article or part of hyperverse. - KingCam16 -->

Activity on the RHOMB
NYXEM was a key figure in the research of the fractal wall and associated fractal corruption. Their research, in collaboration with their apprentice IOGOS, led to the discovery of the hyperverse beyond the fractal wall, confirmation of the little box theory, and vital information regarding the way in which the fractal wall interacts with matter.

This, however, had unforeseen consequences. The repeated bombardment of the wall with RHOMB probes inadvertently caused irreversible damage to other iterations, and significantly increased the rate their iteration is being consumed by the wall, giving the NSIrP about 700 days to come up with a solution before the universe ends.

Into the fractal wall
During a conversation with OEREC about the consequences of the RHOMB's research, NYXEM's connection to the NSIrP is suddenly severed, with additional attempts to contact IOGOS resulting in failure. The RHOMB informs them that their sector has made contact with the fractal wall and has been jettisoned. NYXEM remarks that the wall is very beautiful up close, but the RHOMB ignores this.

NYXEM's sanity and physical form begin to corrupt as they progress through the wall — experiencing extreme pain, gaining extra limbs, and developing a fear of "the light" while making friends with "the dark". Perhaps most notably, they also begin referring to themselves with singular pronouns, which is highly unusual as the Nyxite are known to refer to themselves exclusively using plural pronouns.

The Wanderer
NYXEM's fractal corrupted form is known to roam 265404, becoming worshipped by the Chevrin as a god known as The Wanderer. NYXEM's actions throughout the Surface have resulted in the Chevrin viewing the Llokin of the Caldera as "demons"; corrupted Chevrin who live in agony under the unrelenting light of the Focus. This devotion to The Wanderer and hatred for the Llokin eventually led to an invasion of the Caldera.

Meanwhile, NYXEM's touch is also felt inside the Caldera (outside aforementioned invasion.) There exist multiple artifacts throughout the Surface, presumed to be of Nyxite origin, that use organic matter as fuel to perform certain tasks. Notably there is a tablet — discovered by SILLH — which appears to grant various abilities if given enough fuel, and a ball, which seems to grant the ability to be reborn after death — as demonstrated by LOTUS, ROMAL, and JAELA.
Aegis of Rhodon
Speculation
There is speculation that NYXEM may play an important role in the story and gameplay of the game Aegis of Rhodon, manifesting themselves as the "Welchian Fever" — a late-game injury intended to end the player's game.
The Surface of the World, more commonly referred to as the Surface, is the only known land within the iteration 265404. Its shape is highly debated with the prevailing theories being either a normal planet or a concave surface. The Surface is the homeland of both the Llokin and the Chevrin. It is where a majority of Doughbyte takes place.

The Shape of The Surface
According to Sabre, the surface is an infinite paraboloid, with the Focus being a small star at the focus of said paraboloid.

The Surface is split into two parts, the Caldera and the Cragweald. The Caldera sits beneath the Focus and is defined as a circle by the Terminator, which is a circle of rotating cloud formations. Surrounding the Caldera is the Cragweald which extends an unknown distance; presumably infinite.

The Caldera
The Caldera sits at the center of The Surface and directly surrounds the Focus. The outer boundary of The Caldera is The Terminator where The Cragweld begins. It is thought to be a crater or a natural indent in the surface as is it often referred to as being concave.

Geography
The Caldera is a diverse landscape featuring deserts, forests, and canyons. The Caldera on average has a temperature of 40 Celsius. The Caldera also has substantial oceans, fed by the three main rivers.

Inhabitants
The Caldera is the natural home of the Llokin.

The Cragweld
The Cragweld surrounds The Caldera and extends out an unknown distance. Due to lying beyond the Terminator the Focus is faint and hard to see, this is either from land obstruction or normal light fall off.

Geography
Inner Cragweld is characterized by tall trees and grasslands slowly giving way to the glaciers of the Outer Cragweld. Outer Cragweld is completely devoid of all plant life and is entirely composed of ice and snow. The Outer Cragweld glaciers are the source of the rivers which feed The Caldera's oceans.

Inhabitants
Inner Cragweld is the home of the Chevrin. Outer Cragweld is the home of the glacierdwellers, a race of Chevrin. The Cragweld is also the habitat of the only known non-sentient living creature, the Arbeast.

Trivia
* The Concave Surface Theory of the shape is often jokingly referred to as "The Toilet Bowl Theory"
ROMAL (/roʊmɑːl/, roh-MAHL) is a pivotal character in the story, and is responsible for much of what happens in the later parts of 265404. She is purple, but due to the nature of living in the Ashmorgue, she is often covered in soot and ash. This gives her a blackish or dark purple appearance.

The Tears.mp3
ROMAL's story starts earliest as a friend of LOTUS. The presence of a mysterious ball in the caldera that LOTUS had been taking care of had plenty of challenges. To maintain secrecy, a conspiracy was formed to look after it. Initially, the ball was hidden in a cave network in the Lake of the Surface, but it consumed the water and lowered the levels, which would lead to its discovery. After gathering together once more, the group decided to split the ball into a series of "tears" that are shards of the ball. When pieced together, the shards form a ball shape once more. After being reborn and distributing the tears all over the surface, there were internal struggles in this group. These struggles led to most of the members ending up crippled or dead. After saying goodbye to LOTUS one last time, ROMAL began her journey to colonize the Ashmorgue and take over the surface with the power of the tears.
Chieftain of the Ashmorgue
ROMAL is perhaps best known for settling the ash plains, a region that is highly volcanic and full of ash (much as the name implies). The area is known for being barren, unclaimed, and inhospitable, and some people consider settling in this area extremely disrespectful to the gods. It's unclear how familiar ROMAL was with the ash plains given that she was young when she started her work. Considering that she was reborn at the time, it's possible she was a member of a previous attempt to colonize the area. EVJAR notes that there are remains of other settlers in the ash plains, and that ROMAL was unusually familiar with life there. After her settling of the ash plains, her chieftainhood was recognized by the rest of the rockbiter tribes, making her tribe the newest. Some chieftains still detest her, despite the accomplishment. During her establishing of the tribe, ROMAL met EVJAR. ROMAL cares for her deeply, but the full extent of this relationship is unclear.
The Chevrin Invasion
Because their king was assassinated by a certain Llokin, the Chevrin began a full scale invasion during ROMAL's quest to obtain all the tears. By the time it reached Vetteswoods, she had finally collected them all. ROMAL is a skilled fighter, and uses the power of the tears to deftly kill Chevrin, despite them being much larger and stronger than Llokin. When he was requesting reinforcements, WARES remarked "We just pissed off a God". EVJAR was wounded in the ensuing skirmishes, but still lives. It's unclear what will happen with the Chevrin and ROMAL, since that part of the story has not been written yet.
