Sabre created the universe, though they prefer not to interfere in what goes on inside, even if this results in widespread damage to several [[iterations]]. They don't seem to feel strongly about the possibility it will end, stating that "creation is its own reward" and "the universe's end is as natural a process as its beginning". Nevertheless, there have been notable instances of sabre interfering to some degree, as they seem to ultimately gravitate to whatever feels the most "interesting".

Eventually he was given a new body to facilitate easier exploration, and became fascinated with the chaotic beauty he saw all around him. Hoping to preserve it, EMBER became a de facto caretaker for the universe, and grew frustrated with sabre's refusal to take action when damage was being done.
