The Surface of the World, more commonly referred to as the Surface, is the only known land within the iteration 265404. Its shape is highly debated with the prevailing theories being either a normal planet or a concave surface. The Surface is the homeland of both the Llokin and the Chevrin. It is where a majority of Doughbyte takes place.

The Shape of The Surface

According to Sabre, the surface is an infinite paraboloid, with the Focus being a small star at the focus of said paraboloid.[1]

The Surface is split into two parts, the Caldera and the Cragweald. The Caldera sits beneath the Focus and is defined as a circle by the Terminator, which is a circle of rotating cloud formations. Surrounding the Caldera is the Cragweald which extends an unknown distance; presumably infinite.

The Caldera

The Caldera sits at the center of The Surface and directly surrounds the Focus. The outer boundary of The Caldera is The Terminator where The Cragweld begins. It is thought to be a crater or a natural indent in the surface as is it often referred to as being concave.

Geography

The Caldera is a diverse landscape featuring deserts, forests, and canyons. The Caldera on average has a temperature of 40 Celsius. The Caldera also has substantial oceans, fed by the three main rivers.

Inhabitants

The Caldera is the natural home of the Llokin.

The Cragweld

This article or section is outdated or incorrect. You can help by fixing or updating it. The use of Cragweld is wrong as it is a separate place, also spelt Cragweald

The Cragweld surrounds The Caldera and extends out an unknown distance. Due to lying beyond the Terminator the Focus is faint and hard to see, this is either from land obstruction or normal light fall off.

Geography

Inner Cragweld is characterized by tall trees and grasslands slowly giving way to the glaciers of the Outer Cragweld. Outer Cragweld is completely devoid of all plant life and is entirely composed of ice and snow. The Outer Cragweld glaciers are the source of the rivers which feed The Caldera's oceans.

Inhabitants

Inner Cragweld is the home of the Chevrin. Outer Cragweld is the home of the glacierdwellers, a race of Chevrin. The Cragweld is also the habitat of the only known non-sentient living creature, the Arbeast.

Trivia

  • The Concave Surface Theory of the shape is often jokingly referred to as "The Toilet Bowl Theory"
