Sabre is the creator of the universe and keeper of all of the records. Little else is known about them, though glimpses of their personality and goals have been shown.

The Universe

Sabre created the universe, though they prefer not to interfere in what goes on inside, even if this results in widespread damage to several iterations. They don't seem to feel strongly about the possibility it will end, stating that "creation is its own reward" and "the universe's end is as natural a process as its beginning". Nevertheless, there have been notable instances of sabre interfering to some degree, as they seem to ultimately gravitate to whatever feels the most "interesting".

EMBER

After EMBER successfully convinced his entire species to kill themselves immediately, saving 768220 from total decay, sabre took pity on him and took him out of his iteration to let him explore the universe. Eventually he was given a new body to facilitate easier exploration, and became fascinated with the chaotic beauty he saw all around him. Hoping to preserve it, EMBER became a de facto caretaker for the universe, and grew frustrated with sabre's refusal to take action when damage was being done. Sabre felt that EMBER was misguided in some ways, such as the means used to save his iteration, but made no attempts to stop his aspirations to preserve other iterations.

Record Keeping

Sabre keeps many records of various events throughout the universe, translating them into other languages and, curiously, providing them to the Nyxite Society of Interrealistic Preservation upon being requested. The details of this arrangement are unknown, though at least two theories can be made:

• Similarly to EMBER, sabre pities the Nyxite's situation, and provides them stories from other iterations to perhaps give them a chance of survival.
  • This is backed in fruits of chaos by EMBER implying that sabre is "directly aiding" the Nyxite despite their destructive actions, though it is unclear whether EMBER is simply referring to sabre's inaction.
• While extremely unlikely, another explanation could be that the NSIrP have managed to reconstruct sabre, and this reconstructed version is where they get the records from.

Sabre seems to have taken a personal interest in CASEI's story, as the records lucky, obituary, i made a friend, and the historian are noted as being "unrequested", and lack the NSIrP marker.

Trivia

• Sabre's name is the only name in Doughbyte not to be marked as a mnemonic.
  • In real-life, a sabre is a type of curved sword, with its name being a loan word from French. This further demonstrates the odd amount of French things hidden throughout Doughbyte.
