The Church
"And while his sister remained there to suffer in the endless inferno and horrible sands of the Caldera until all of time came to a close, our mortal heads can merely imagine what ALUSE had been granted at the other End." - Chevrin Scripture[1]

The Church is a Chevrin religious and political organization based around the worship of the Wanderer. Members of the Church are called the Children. The Church plays a significant factor in a large part of Chevrin society. Neither the Glacierdwellers or CASEI are members of the Church, the latter being an escapee.
Organization
The Church is a religious group but also the political organization of the surface-dwelling Chevrin. As such there are several positions of importance.
- Royalty, often in close relation to the king. They act as advisors to the king in his various exploits and goals.[2]
- Wayfinder, honored warriors destined to carve a path to NYXEM.[3] Notable Wayfinders include, WARES.
- Crusaders, warriors of the Church. They follow the lead of the Wayfinders. There are no notable Crusaders.
Beliefs
The Church is a very legalistic religion where faith is shown through action, every reward must be earned. This can be found in AURAK's search for holy artifacts in the glacier, often at the risk of his own life.[4]
Llokin Creation Story
The Church believes that Chevrin, as well as Llokin are the descendants of the Wanderer. Scripture explains the differences between the two species with the story of SETEI and ALUSE. The two children of the Wanderer were given the task of making an offering to the Wanderer in which their souls would be judged. ALUSE dedicated himself entirely to the cause while SETEI pursued more carefree matters. ALUSE alone finished the Spire, a monument from which to worship the Wanderer, and set in motion the Wanderer's judgement. ALUSE was exalted while SETEI was transformed into the first Llokin, giving rise to the belief that they were demons.[1]
Rituals
Summit of Exaltation
The Summit of Exaltation is a coming-of-age ritual for the Children that every adult must go through. It's described as the only place where one can seek an audience with the Wanderer, high in the clouds and near the glaciers. Young Chevrin are led up to the Summit by their parents to be judged, indicated by a streak of purple and the voice of the Wanderer. If a Chevrin is not exalted, they are pushed off the Summit. The Summit is not high enough to kill and the disgraced Chevrin must learn to survive on their own and make their way back to the Summit to repay their debt.[3]
Invasion of the Caldera
- Main article: Chevrin Invasion of the Caldera
The invasion of the Caldera was a ritual dedicated to the Wanderer. The Church planned to fill the Glaciercreek Reservoir with Llokin blood as a show of faith. However, after the death of AURAK, the goals shift to the genocide of the Llokin.[5][6]
